A hand-knotted Persian Qashqai area rug. This wool pile rug is rendered in a palette of cranberry, sapphire, emerald, sage, tangerine, gold, and ivory. It commences with an indented diamond medallion, infilled with flower blossoms, oak leaves, and palmettes and flanked by double pendants. The lozenge field has stepped edges and is populated with lobed rosettes, palmettes, and floral sprays, and grounded by sapphire spandrels displaying kneeling white horses and coupled boteh. Framing the field are geometric guard and secondary borders, while the primary border consists of a stylized floral meander over sapphire. The rug is finished with overcast barber pole selvedges and wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
