A hand-knotted Persian Heriz wool area rug. This rug is rendered in an abrash and variegated palette of crimson, indigo, ivory, sky blue, walnut, charcoal, and black. The crimson hued field is lozenged over ivory, and it features a large star shaped pendant medallion infilled and surrounded by rectilinear floral and foliate motifs. The ivory ground has coordinating spandrels, as well as an array or floral motifs. Framing the field is an unresolved main indigo grounded stylized samovar border, and a pair of carnation meander guard borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a wool warp fringe to the ends. It is unlabeled.
