Hand-Knotted Caucasian Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Caucasian wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of ivory, indigo, mulberry, saffron, crimson, wine, cobalt, and sepia. The ivory colored field begins with a diamond pendant medallion surrounded by diamond and triangle forms, while enclosed by small indigo grounded spandrels. The field also features a scatter of floral motifs, and flowering branches. Framing the field is a main tree or possible feather meander border, as well as a pair of meandering guard borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a wool warp fringe to the ends. It is unlabeled.
