A watercolor painting on paper titled Trapper by listed American western artist Austin Deuel (b. 1939). Portrayed with meticulous detail, this work features a Native American man on horseback in a mountainous western landscape. Signed to the lower right, the work is presented under glass with white matting, and housed in a brown wood frame with a silver-tone liner. Adhered to the verso is a descriptive label and a short bio of the artist.

Born in Pittsburgh, Austin Deuel moved to Arizona in 1971. He is a sculptor, painter, and muralist especially known for his depictions of the American west. Deuel has authored several books including Canon De Los Artistas (1982), Even God is Against Us (1986), and Swan Lake, Nature’s Amazing Grace (2006). He is a member of the American Indian and Cowboy Artists, and his work has been collected by multiple institutions such as the U.S. Marine Corps Museum, the U.S. Airforce Combat Art Collection, and Trinity University, among others.
