Two Ronald English Original Abstract Portrait Marker Drawings
Item Details
Charcoal on paper
A pair of original marker drawings on foam core by contemporary Cincinnati ‘Outsider’ artist Ronald “Ron” English (20th/21st century), titled Ike and Beety, dated 2007. Each piece depicts an abstracted Cubist-style portrait rendered with swirling, black-outlined planes of saturated blue, orange and yellow ochre. Additional sketched faces are drawn in black marker to the verso of each. These pieces are not framed. English creates and sells his work throughout the inner-city downtown and Over-the-Rhine neighborhoods of Cincinnati, creating art on found materials, usually cardboard. English mainly produces Cubist figural drawings that he says are “inspired by the Lord.”
