An original marker drawing on paper by American artist Carol J. Mathews (1956-2015). This abstract black and white drawing depicts floral-like forms. It is unsigned, and has a label to the verso indicating the artist. It is presented behind a white mat and liner, under glass, in a black composite frame and is ready to hang with a metal loop.
Mathews, known for her colorful and expressive paintings and drawings, describes her work as follows: ‘having painted for over 25 years, it is difficult to describe my art but whimsical, abstract, and fantasy come to mind.’ After years of suffering from mental illness, Carol’s art became a crucial conduit for her internal turmoil.
