A 1950 16.5’ viola made by Alban Hoyer for William Moennig & Son with case and two bows. This piece features a spruce top with flame maple sides and two-piece back. It includes an ebony chin rest, tailpiece, fingerboard, and pegs. It is labeled ‘Made for Wm. Moennig & Son, Philadelphia, by Alban Hoyer, 1950’ to the interior of the f-holes and the bridge is marked ‘Wm Moennig & Son’. The fine tuner is additionally marked ‘Germany’. The viola is stored with two bows, including one fully lined bow, in a black case with fabric-lined and fitted interior.

- seam separation to the back and evidence of a crack to the right lower bout of the face; sound post has fallen and is still in the interior of instrument; viola will need to be re-strung and was not tested; small scuffs, scratches and marks to violin body and bows from use and age; bows will need to be re-haired; all items untested; wear to case with scuffs and tears to the exterior; wear to case interior.
