Laukaan Puu Desk, Finnish Modern, from the estate of modern artist Margaret Newland Wenstrup

Item Details

A rare Laukaan Puu desk unit from one of Finland’s most sought after furniture designers. This desk features a removable top, and two slender saw horse like supports that make for easy break down and stowage. Each support is adjustable with a wire attached metal pin. The table comes accompanied by three separate, three tiered, chests of drawers that feature leather pulls. This desk comes from the estate of local Op Art artist Margaret Newland Wenstrup. This unit, having belonged to an artist, exhibits some wear consistent with processes of making. Drawers feature Laukaan Puu mark to bottom.

Condition

Some paint to the insides of the drawers, black paint to table top. The table top appears to have been painted black, perhaps not by the manufacturer. There are several spots where black paint has accumulated and dried in blob like formations. Please preview for best sense of condition. Desk also shows minor wear consistent with life in the studio of a busy artist.
