An oil on canvas painting of sheep in a field signed A. D. Bell. The painting shows the fields and field rows in the distance dropping down to an inlet. There are white cliffs in the distance. It is presented in a gold-toned frame with applied gesso decoration. The painting has a retail tag for the fine art department of Lyon LTD, 380 Sauchiehall Street in central Glasgow on the back of the frame.
A. D. Bell was a pseudonym for listed British artist Horace Hammond (1842 – 1926) that he used when painting for a Birmingham art dealer. The same name was also used as a pseudonym by Wilfred Knox who painted sailing vessels.
