An oil painting on board titled View of Santa Fe Sunset by listed American artist Grant MacDonald (b. 1944), created in 1990. This work features a picturesque panoramic landscape with a pueblo structure present to the left and trees, cacti, and shrubbery scattered throughout. In the far distance, mountains are silhouetted against a radiant colorful sky. The work is signed and dated to the lower right. The artist’s name is also inscribed to the verso and the painting is presented in a gold-tone gesso and wood frame with a canvas liner.

Known for his paintings of wildlife and southwestern American landscapes, Grant MacDonald received his BFA from the University of Mississippi and his MFA from the University of Texas at Austin. His work has been exhibited in numerous exhibitions including the American Art Classic and the Western Heritage Sale in Houston, and the Collector’s Sale in Dallas, among other major auctions in the U.S.
