An antique copy oil painting on tin of Jan Tysiewicz’s (Polish; 1815-1891) 1842 painting titled The Penitent Magdalene. Unsigned, this work is only a few inches smaller than the original, and is presented in an elaborate gilt and gesso frame with undulating edges and scrolling foliate molding.

Condition

- spots of in painting scattered throughout; surface scratches scattered throughout, especially visible across eye and along edges of painting; rubbing along edges of painting; small spots of paint loss scattered throughout; large chip present to lower left corner of frame gesso; wear in frame includes small chips, stains, scratches, and finish loss scattered throughout; frame is slightly separating at corners; placement of tin plate in frame needs adjusting.
