Antique Late Victorian Writing-Arm Chair with Woven Back and Seat

Item Details

An antique late Victorian writing-arm chair with woven back and seat. The frame features a pierced and carved, tablet crest above a caned back and a splint seat. The arms are flat and rounded, with the proper, right arm having a hinged, writing surface. The chair rises on ring- and sausage-turned, front legs joined by a spindled, box stretcher to the raking, back legs.

- scattered surface wear and imperfections; missing support for hinged writing surface, thus it does not stay extended; stationary portion of same arm is a little wobbly; small break to splint weaving near left edge of front seat rail.
