An original abstract acrylic painting on canvas by Cincinnati artist Elizabeth O’Neill (1930 – 2018), titled Freedom. The painting depicts a pink figure emerging from an abstract blur of colors near two blue birds. A label to the verso states the title and artist’s name, and the painting is signed to the lower left. It is presented in a gold tone composite frame with a hanging wire.

Elizabeth O’Neill was born in Cleveland, Ohio and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from St. Mary of the Woods College in Indiana. After furthering her education with graduate work at the Cleveland and Chicago Art Institutes and Northern Illinois University, she spent twelve years teaching art to inner-city high school students in Chicago. “There,” she says, “I learned the grassroots of humanity and found expression to be a saving factor.”
