An oil painting on board titled Super Sack by self-taught artist K.C. Truschel (Pittsburgh; 20th/21st-century). In this satirical football scene, the artist expresses his commentary on sports in the early 1960s. The work is signed ‘KCT 45’ to the lower right and presented in a simple wood frame. It is titled and inscribed to the verso.
K.C. Truschel was an unknown, self-taught painter from Bradford Woods near Pittsburgh. He painted from 1962-1967 and his work was never shown during his lifetime. His paintings often displayed themes of man’s shortcomings. His work was exhibited at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts in 2002.
Condition
- faint scratch marks throughout painting; small spots of paint loss and rubbing along board edges; board is loose in frame and needs securing; wear in frame includes scratches, stains, and finish loss scattered throughout; frame is slightly separating at corners.
