Vintage Power-Loomed Karastan "Medallion Serapi" Area Rug
Item Details
A vintage power-loomed Medallion Serapi area rug by Karastan. This wool pile rug is rendered in an abrashed palette of madder red, indigo, sage, camel, goldenrod, and ivory, and centered with a polyagonal floral medallion. The rectilinear field is densely populated with palmettes, lobed rosettes, and lancet leaves and grounded by floral spandrels, which mirror the field pattern. It is framed by floral meander guard borders, while the primary border displays samovar style motif over madder red. The piece is finished with serged selvedges and an applied kilim skirt with fringe. A label to the reverse reads ‘Woven in U.S.A.’.
