An oil painting on board titled I Fink – Ergo, I am by self-taught artist K.C. Truschel (Pittsburgh; 20th/21st-century). This work features a lone house set on a dry grassy landscape next to a Christmas tree and a billboard sign that reads ‘Dine Dance’. A road sign is present to the lower right and a slayed man is present to the lower left corner. The work is signed ‘KCT 12 62’ to the lower right. It is titled and inscribed to the verso, and presented in a simple wood frame.
K.C. Truschel was an unknown, self-taught painter from Bradford Woods near Pittsburgh. He painted from 1962-1967 and his work was never shown during his lifetime. His paintings often displayed themes of man’s shortcomings. His work was exhibited at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts in 2002.
Condition
- faint scratch marks and spots of accretion scattered throughout board; some rubbing and residue along edges of painting; board is loose in frame and needs securing.
