An 1855 commemorative Richard Sainthill Numismatist copper medal. L.C. Wyon was the engraver of this medal. Obverse: ‘Richard Sainthill of Topsham Devonshire Numismatist Born Jan. 28 1787’ and bust of Sainthill facing right. Reverse: ‘Irradiating the present, restoring the past’, Genius of Numismatics welcoming a young woman and parting curtains to reveal an old man. Reference BHM 2571. Metal Content: 99% copper. Diameter: 58 mm. Weight: 90.2 grams. Medal is in good condition.
