A monotype print on paper titled Chalice by Cincinnati artist Elizabeth O’Neill (1930 – 2018). This print features an abstract chalice shape rendered in layered marks in a palette of pink and blue hues. It is signed and marked ‘monotype’ in pencil to the lower margin, and a label indicating the title is attached to the verso. This work is presented behind a blue mat, under glass, in a cream wood frame with no hanging hardware present.

Elizabeth O’Neill was born in Cleveland, Ohio and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from St. Mary of the Woods College in Indiana. After furthering her education with graduate work at the Cleveland and Chicago Art Institutes and Northern Illinois University, she spent twelve years teaching art to inner-city high school students in Chicago. “There,” she says, “I learned the grassroots of humanity and found expression to be a saving factor.”
