Vintage Hand-Knotted Baluch Tribal Wool Accent Rug

Item Details

A vintage hand-knotted Baluch tribal accent rug. This wool pile rug is rendered in an abrashed palette of mulberry, cochineal red, goldenrod, and blackish-blue. The field is densely populated with bouquets of lobed rosettes in rectilinear vases, triangular ensi designs, S serpents, eight-pointed stars, and geometric motifs. Framing the field is a serpent meander border over cochineal red, with a cruciform in one corner. The rug is finished with double overcast selvedges, a brief kilim skirt, and natural warp fringe of goat hair. It is unlabeled.
