Antique Sterling Silver Cigarette Case Converted to Small Purse
Item Details
An antique sterling silver R. Blackinton cigarette case, circa 1910s, which has been converted into a small purse or reticule. The case itself has a Victorian or Art Nouveau design with lions rampant on one side and scrolled acanthus leaves on the other. Jump rings and an eighteen inch cable chain have been added, allowing the user to hang it from a shoulder or arm. It could hold a driver’s license, credit cards and the like. It is hallmarked as sterling silver and carries the R. Blackinton (Massachusetts) hallmark with the number 845. The total approximate weight, inclusive of all materials, is 4.570 ozt.
