A hand-knotted Pakistani Kashmiri wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of crimson, sapphire, gold, ice blue, burnt orange, ivory, mocha, wheat, and olive. The crimson colored field features an allover design of latticed vine-work with palmettes, floral motifs, and lancette leaves that begins with a central rosette, while enclosed by layered spandrels with sapphire and wheat ground colors. Framing the field is a main sapphire grounded stylized herati border, along with floral meander guard borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a cotton warp fringe to the ends. It is labeled ‘Kashmirian Carpets’.
