Item Details

Untitled, dated late 20th century
Acrylic on paper
Signed to the lower right
Unframed
An acrylic painting on paper of an abstract portrait by very well-listed and prolific contemporary Neo-Expressionist Peter Robert Keil. This work features the artist’s signature style exhibiting loose black outlines and vibrant splotches of blue, yellow, purple, and green applied in large gestural brushstrokes. Signed to the lower right, the work is not mounted and remains unframed.
Influenced by German Expressionism and graffiti elements, Keil is known for his simplified abstractions of traditional art subjects. He studied under Otto Nagel at a young age and developed relationships with other renowned artists such as Joan Miro. As Keil abandoned realism and developed his signature style, he used more vibrant colors rapidly applied with large gestural brushstrokes resembling the abstract style of Picasso.
