An acrylic painting on paper titled Andy Warhole by very well-listed and prolific contemporary German Neo-Expressionist Peter Robert Keil (Berlin; born 1942). This abstract portrait features the artist’s signature style exhibiting loose black outlines and vibrant colors applied in gestural brushstrokes. The work is titled to the lower right; it is signed and dated ‘92’ to the lower left. It is not mounted and remains unframed.

Influenced by German Expressionism and graffiti elements, Keil is known for his simplified abstractions of traditional art subjects. He studied under Otto Nagel at a young age and developed relationships with other renowned artists such as Joan Miro. As Keil abandoned realism and developed his signature style, he used more vibrant colors rapidly applied with large gestural brushstrokes resembling the abstract style of Picasso.
