This work features a town along a harbor, portrayed with loose brushstrokes, vibrant colors, and dark outlines. The work is dated, titled, and signed ‘J.A. Petrence’ to the lower left. Presented under glass with off-white matting, it is housed in a black wood frame.

Based in Pittsburgh, Jules A. Petrence was a painter and sculptor, who would travel to Provincetown, Massachusetss during the summer to paint with Hans Hartung. He was a member of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh.
