Hand-Knotted Persian "Vase" Wool And Silk Prayer Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian wool and silk prayer rug. This area rug is rendered in a palette of ivory, camel, cornflower, terracotta, apricot, celedon, goldenrod, taupe, and olive. The ivory colored mihrab is densely filled with a pair of flowering trees flanking a large vase at the lower end. Capping the niche is a cornflower grounded area infilled with an array of flowering branches. Framing the field is a camel colored main border that features birds perched atop a spray as well as swans at each end, along with a pair of floral meander guard borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a wool warp fringe to the ends. It is unlabeled.
