A vintage hand-woven raffia Kuba Shoowa cut-pile textile from the Congo Basin, Africa. These intricately designed geometric cloths were woven by men and embroidered by women using a shearing technique to create a soft velvet texture. Kuba Shoowa cloth was used during funerals to convey status or traded as currency.
