A set of 20th century ornamental carved wooden combs from the Baule people of Côte d’Ivoire. These combs feature carved scorpion handles and geometric detailing to the versos. Combs with handles decorated with animals or human figures can represent the wearer’s status.

Condition

- some residue and dust to each surface; one comb has had two of its teeth repaired.
