A 20th century carved wooden and fiber Baule mask from Côte d’Ivoire. Cresting the top of this mask is a mother leopard carrying her cub in her mouth. The carved spots of the leopard complements the relief scarification on the face and the incised details of the hair and beard. This mask possibly represents the spirit of a great hunter.

Condition

- dust and debris to surface and interior; there is a thin fissure across the beard and a larger crack to the back of the helmet; there are small cracks and chips to the leopard.
