A 20th century carved and painted wooden Igbo mask from Nigeria. This maiden spirit mask features three tall hair crests with cup-like protrusions to the center crest and incised spiral designs covering the dome of the hair. The remnants of vibrant pigments are present throughout the mask, which was once used at funerals and festivals.

Condition

- dust and debris to surface; one of the hair protrusions has come off; paint has been worn away; some insect damage.
