A 20th century wooden, rope, and beaded Chokwe mask possibly from Angola, Democratic Republic of the Congo, or Zambia. This arresting mask features striking teeth and squinting eyes embellished with incised and raise delineations, which represent the feminine ideals of beauty. Traditionally, this mask would have been worn during a coming of age celebration.
