An engraving on laid paper titled Thisbe Takes the Sword Already Reeking with the Blood of Pyramus, Plunges It Into Her Own Breast by William Walker after Charles Monnet (France; b. 1732). This print depicts a woman falling onto a sword above an already deceased male figure rendered in intricate delineations. The artist’s name is present in plate to the lower right corner of the print. This piece is presented matted under glass in a gold-toned wooden frame.

Condition

- paper has been trimmed within plate mark; toning to paper; foxing to paper; print taken out of frame for inspection; dust and accretions present to glass and frame; wear to edges of frame.
