John Rogers Painted Plaster Sculpture "A Matter of Opinion"

An antique reproduction painted plaster sculpture group titled A Matter of Opinion after American sculptor John Rogers (1829–1904). One of five sculptural groups in which the artist featured physicians, this genre scene features a woman seated in between two doctors who appear to be in disagreement. The title of the work is inscribed in block letters to the front center of the rectangular base. ‘John Rogers / New York / 1884’ is inscribed to the top of the base to the side of the figures; the work is patented ‘Dec. 9, 1884’ on the base behind the figures.
