A pair of vintage East Asian lacquered jewelry boxes. This pair includes a Chinese black lacquered jewelry table cabinet with conforming case featuring two cabinet doors with decorative brass hardware and painted birds, floral and foliate motifs in gold, greens, pinks, yellow, white, and peach tones to the facade, which open to four full width shelves; this piece has no visible maker’s marks. Also included is a Japanese musical jewelry chest with a deep red lacquered finish featuring hand painted landscape designs and abalone inlay; multiple interior compartments and drawers for storage with fuschia fabric lining; and includes a metal key escutcheon to the exterior with a musical mechanism to the interior, this piece is marked, ‘Made in Japan’ to the bottom.
