Hand-Knotted Chinese Carved Wool Room Sized Rug

A hand-knotted Chinese carved wool room sized rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of deep teal, ivory, apricot, mauve, peach, sage, and burnt orange. The sculpted deep teal field begins with a floral themed medallion, enclosed by spandrels comprised of floral motifs, a butterfly, and fret motifs. The field also features flower filled vases and flowering branches. Framing the field is an ivory grounded main floral meander with added fret motifs, as well as a flowering and leafy vine guard border. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a cotton kilim skirt with a cotton warp fringe to the ends. It is unlabeled.
