Item Details
An original graphite drawing on paper by American artist Carol J. Mathews (1956-2015). This drawing depicts a pastoral scene, including a small house and windmill, rendered in shapes created through pattern. This work is signed in graphite to the lower right. It is presented without framing, against a protective cardboard backing in an acetate sleeve.
Mathews, known for her colorful and expressive paintings and drawings, describes her work as follows: ‘having painted for over 25 years, it is difficult to describe my art but whimsical, abstract, and fantasy come to mind.’ After years of suffering from mental illness, Carol’s art became a crucial conduit for her internal turmoil. A portion of the proceeds from this sale will go to NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. For more information about the artist visit the link in Additional Information.
