An original acrylic painting on paper by by American artist Carol J. Mathews (1956-2015). This abstract painting features undulating horizontal bands of shapes and dotted pattern in a vibrant palette. This work is unsigned, but a label and printed artist bio indicating the artist are attached to the verso. It is presented on a white background, under glass, in a stained wood frame with no hanging hardware present.
Mathews, known for her colorful and expressive paintings and drawings, describes her work as follows: ‘having painted for over 25 years, it is difficult to describe my art but whimsical, abstract, and fantasy come to mind.’ After years of suffering from mental illness, Carol’s art became a crucial conduit for her internal turmoil.
