Vintage Hand-Knotted Hamadan Wool Runner
Item Details
A vintage hand-knotted Hamadan wool runner. The runner is designed with a deep red center field with two double-stemmed foliate branches in cobalt blue flanked by a pair of scrollwork medallions in off white, red and cobalt blue to each side, and with the field populated in an overall geometric foliate and floral motif in shades of cobalt blue, charcoal gray, celadon green, off white, beige, apricot, aqua and terra cotta. The rug is finished with a major border grounded in off white in a meander floral design, bordered to each side with foliate guard stripes grounded in deep red and charcoal gray. The runner has overcast side edges and an off white cotton warp fringe to the ends. The rug is unmarked.
