Vintage Folk Art Painted Wooden Trunk Attributed to Helen Shelters

Item Details

A vintage painted wooden trunk attributed to folk artist Helen Shelters. The trunk is in a medium red brown wood and has a slightly domed hinged lid embellished with folk art painting featuring a blue peacock and colorful fruit entourage in shades of olive, celadon, apricot and orange red with a red orange border and gold banding. The front and sides are painted with a orange red and olive berry cluster with scrollwork detailing and a finely painted scalloped border to the top, also with the red orange border and gold banding. The interior of the trunk is in a natural wood.

-minor finish wear, one chip to top edge, minor overall wear, three small cracks to top
