Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Hamadan long rug. This wool pile rug is rendered in a palette of cochineal red, indigo, flamingo, tangerine, gold, rose, sapphire, and ivory and centered with a diamond pendant medallion. The rectilinear field is densely populated with tree of life and bird motifs, and extends to cochineal red spandrels infilled with tree of life, bird, and deer designs. Framing the field are carnation meander and running water guard borders, while the primary border displays a seraband border over sapphire. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges and cotton warp fringe that has been reinforced. It is unlabeled.
