A hand-knotted Persian Qashqai wool area rug. This rug is rendered in an abrash palette of crimson, indigo, ivory, wine, teal, tangerine, and slate. The crimson hued field begins with a pole of two diamond medallions infilled with star and floral motifs, while ending in pendants, and framed in a box border. The field also features an array of bird motifs in concentric bands around the medallions, along with eight pointed stars. Framing the field are four borders including a double cross, a stemmed flower, a stylized boteh with brackets, and a barber pole design. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a wool warp fringe to the ends. It is unlabeled.
