Darrell Greene Oversized Sketchbook of Figure Studies

Item Details

A vintage oversized sketchbook filled with original illustrations and sketches by well-listed Canadian-American commercial illustration Darrell Greene (Canada/Utah/New York, 1917 – 2014). The pages are filled with drawings created using graphite, charcoal, and pastel. They depict both male and female figures, many illustrated in the nude. The sketchbook is unsigned, but each page features the artist’s estate stamp to the verso of its lower corner. Each page is perforated to its upper edge.

After studying art in Salt Lake City, Greene moved to New York City in hopes of jumpstarting his art career. He became best-known for his book covers and illustrations, most notably working for many years with Bantam books.
