This Tonalist style landscape painting depicts a solitary tree standing next to at the edge of a gully, rendered in loose brushwork and a limited palette of earth-toned hues. It is illegibly signed to the lower left and a personal inscription is present to the verso. This piece is housed in a wood frame with a green and gold tone finish, a beige linen liner and a gold tone fillet, with a hanging wire to the verso.

- stretcher marks and areas of craquelure. Accretion across painting surface. Stains to linen liner. Minor wear to frame finish.
