A Phillip Callahan horse painting in ink and gouache. Phillip Callahan (1918-1991) is a listed American artist who resided in Massachusetts and New York City. The artwork depicts a high stepping horse with flowing mane and tail. The graphic is drawn in black ink and painted with gouache in bright palette of orange and purple. It is unsigned, but marked with stamp from the artist’s estate to the verso, ‘From the Estate of Phillip Callahan, 1981 – 1991’. The painting is presented under glass with a coordinating double mat and matte black wooden frame. It has a hook to the verso, ready to hang.
