Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Hamadan area rug. This wool pile rug is rendered in a palette of cochineal red, cornflower, rose, goldenrod, wine, and ivory and centered with a stepped diamond medallion infilled with floral motifs. The lozenge field is densely populated with a geometric herati pattern and extends to cochineal red spandrels featuring lobed rosettes and foliage. It is framed with a primary floral meander border over golderod and a triangular guard border. The rug is finished with overcast barber pole selvedges and cropped cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
