Item Details
A vintage hand-knotted Persian Hamadan pictoral area rug. This wool pile rug is rendered in a palette of madder red, indigo, sapphire, wheat, and ivory and centered with a geometric pendant medallion. The rectangular field is densely populated with rosettes, foliage, and images of roaring wild cats and birds. Framing the field are compound geometric and carnation meander guard borders, which flank the primary floral cartouche border presents over madder red. The rug is finished with overcast barber pole selvedges and wool warp fringe that has been reinforced. It is unlabeled.
