A hand-knotted Persian Hamadan wool long rug. This rug is rendered in an abrash palette of indigo, madder red, wine, cobalt, ivory, teal, and sand. The lozenged indigo colored field begins with a square medallion grounded by a madder red block that features tree of life motifs and a series of poles. The field also features branched diamond medallions, guls, amulets, and small filler motifs, as well as stepped edges, and layered spandrels. Framing the field is a main wine hued leaf and calyx border, as well as floral guard borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a cotton warp fringe to the ends. This rug is unlabeled.
