Finely Hand-Knotted Restored Turkish Hereke Silk Accent Rug
Item Details
A finely hand-knotted restored Turkish Hereke accent rug. This silk pile rug is rendered in a palette of rose, clementine, turquoise, mint, sage, emerald, cranberry, indigo, wheat, and ivory, and begins with a large circular pendant medallion infilled with floral and palmette motifs. The curvilinear field is densely populated with purling vines, foliage, lobed rosettes, and racemes on an ivory ground, and extends to cranberry corner spandrels featuring floral bouquets. Framing the field are carnation grounded meanders, while the primary border features a highly stylized herati motif over wheat. The rug is finished with double overcast selvedges, a short kilim skirt, and silk warp fringe. A label to the reverse reads ‘Noor Oriental Rugs’.
