Hand-Knotted Inscribed Indo-Persian Shiraz Wool Carpet Runner
Item Details
A hand-knotted Indo-Persian Shiraz wool carpet runner. This rug is rendered in a vibrant palette of crimson, ivory, indigo, cobalt, gold, aqua, pale yellow, salmon, fern, walnut, and slate. The indigo colored field features a pole of seven diamond pendant medallions, each infilled with hooked elements, and floral motifs, as well as small filler motifs, while enclosed by coordinating partial medallions. The field is also over populated with an array of floral motifs, and guls. Framing the field is a main unresolved diamond and bracket border, as well as florette patterned guard borders, a laleh abbasi guard, a boteh guard, and geometrically designed minor borders. Within one of the florette borders is a cartouche with an inscription to it, at one end. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a cotton warp fringe to the ends. This rug is labeled ‘Hand Made in India’, ‘Shiraz’.
