1920s Weller Pottery "Knifewood" Vase and Bulb Planter Attributed to Red Wing
Item Details
A pairing of 1920-30s Weller and Weller-style pottery pieces. This collection includes a diminutive vase with a rolled rim, slightly tapered cylindrical body, and matte finish in an earthy colorway. The exterior features an incised Knifewood motif of a white hunting dog among foliage in relief, and was introduced just after WWI by Rudolph Lorber. Impressed to the reverse is the Weller maker’s mark. Also offered is a stoneware bulb planter attributed to Red Wing in a Brushware pattern, embossed with a band of acorns and oak leaves at the shoulder and undulating vertical lines from the circumference down. The exterior features a brushed matte finish, while the interior features a glossy emerald glaze. A maker’s mark was not visible.
