Hand-Knotted Indo-Heriz Carpet Runner
Item Details
A hand-knotted indo-Persian carpet runner. This Indian-made wool rug features a Persian Heriz-style design in a palette of vermillion, ochre, black, cream and azure. It begins with a vertical row of layered medallions over a vermillion field with crenellated sides and low, cream-colored spandrels. Populating the medallions, field and corners are rectilinear palmettes, vines, flowers and leaves. The field is framed by two borders, including a turtle-patterned border featuring palmettes and rectilinear vines over black. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short, ivory cotton warp fringe.
